Amazon MP3: Quality, DRM-free, legal downloads (iTunes Plus alternative)

I just bought
Sawdust from
Amazon MP3 and love
this new album
from The Killers!

Previously, I’ve written to you in support of iTunes Plus, Apple’s DRM-free music. Well, I would like to mention a very cool alternative: Amazon MP3. Most songs are only 89¢! (That’s 40¢ cheaper than iTunes Plus’s $1.29 a song.) The single I got was, as are many other songs, not available on iTunes Plus. Oh, and they’re great quality, too, at 256kpps! That’s twice the bitrate of normal iTunes song at 128kbps (though they are in a different format).

The fact that Amazon MP3 tracks come without DRM, or copy protection, means you can put your music on all the computers, iPods, Zunes, cell phones, and MP3-capable car CD players you want!

Amazon also has an optional downloader that will download your music for you and place add it to your iTunes or Windows Media library automatically. I don’t know why you wouldn’t want to use it; it is small, quick, easy to install, and does its job well.

Go ahead and use the box below to look around! (I should get a small cut when you buy something using this widget, but you’ll pay the same price and I do genuinely think Amazon MP3 and DRM-free music “rock”!)
